Southern Homes Team rebrands as independent Louisiana brokerage

Baton Rouge’s Southern Homes Team has changed its name to The Southern Homes Real Estate Team and is now operating as an independent, Louisiana Real Estate Commission-licensed brokerage. The rebrand keeps the same staff, office, phone number and website while aiming to clarify the firm’s focus on residential real estate.

Why it matters: - The name change is meant to remove confusion and make the firm’s business clearer to clients. - Independent brokerage status gives the Baton Rouge team local control over decisions, branding and client service. - The move preserves continuity for existing clients, with the same specialists, office and contact information.

What happened: - Southern Homes Team is now The Southern Homes Real Estate Team. - The firm is listed with the Louisiana Real Estate Commission and operates as its own independent, LREC-licensed brokerage. - Tracy Mathis is the broker for the firm as Owner/Broker, REALTOR®. - The company was founded by Tracy Mathis and Cory DiBenedetto in 2010.

The details: - The team says nothing else changes for clients. - The brokerage still has 11 licensed specialists. - The office remains at 7330 Highland Rd, Suite A-7 in Baton Rouge. - The phone number remains (225) 308-2108. - The website remains movingto225.com. - The firm has served Greater Baton Rouge for 19 years. - The team reports more than 2,000 closings, more than $360 million in career sales and more than 1,400 five-star client reviews. - The Southern Homes Real Estate Team won The Advocate’s Gold Winner, Real Estate Team award in 2025 and 2026. - RealTrends ranked the firm the No. 1 Large Real Estate Team in Baton Rouge in 2026. - Tracy Mathis has 19 years in Louisiana real estate. - Tracy Mathis also held a mortgage loan officer license for 12 of those years, which the firm says helps with financing, appraisals and contracts. - Cory DiBenedetto has been a licensed REALTOR® since 2014 after a career in oil and gas. - The team serves buyers and sellers in East Baton Rouge, Ascension and Livingston parishes, West Baton Rouge, the Felicianas, Pointe Coupee, Lafayette and Greater New Orleans. - Spanish- and Vietnamese-speaking agents are available. - The company blog has more information about the name change and what it means for clients: the company’s announcement.

Between the lines: - The rebrand appears designed to tighten the firm’s identity around real estate and eliminate any confusion with construction or home repair businesses. - Independence may also signal a push to emphasize local decision-making and a more personal client experience. - The team is leaning on its track record, awards and sales volume to show the rebrand is cosmetic, not operational.

What’s next: - Clients can expect the same office team, market coverage and contact channels under the new name. - The brokerage is likely to use the new brand across its website, blog and public listings. - The company is directing readers to its website blog for more background on the change and its impact.

The bottom line: - The Southern Homes Real Estate Team is changing its name, not its core business, as it formalizes its identity as an independent Baton Rouge brokerage.
